Problem with buttons in HMI and S7-1200 combo

IES.Greece Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I'm working to program a combination of S7-1200 and HMI screen, with the Tia portal software, ver11, and I have a problem with the oppereation of the screen build in swithes and push buttons. I have placed many other swithces and buttons, and they all work fine. Now I'm trying to add 3 switches to conrol the speed of an inveter with VIA (4-20ma current from the analog output), one switch for each speed. When I use only onetwo switches, it woks 75% of the time, but the switch will not stay pressed. It automaticaly resets as soon as you press it. When i use 3, things get tricky. the switch i use last in the code works 95% of the time, the one I use first works 30% of the time, and the one in the midlle doesn't appear to be working at all. I use the same code for all 3. The switches get automatically reset (will not stay pressed). I have also set a bit in parallel with the PLC switch function, and it doesn't get changed either. It appears that the action is not read by the PLC before it if reset. The damn thing is that I'm not reseting the switch anywere I tried using push buttons, but the result is the same...

IES.Greece Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	The panel is KTP 600. The screen with the problem has only 6 buttons, but the app has over 40 switches and buttons. Do you have a way to workaround this issue?

fbelic Posts: 327 Rating: (28)	Greetings 40 is not a large number, so the problem is probably not in that. Maybe you can make your acquisition cycles larger (slower), that's only I can think of. You can try the usual stuff: updating both panel and WinCC to the latest version and resetting the display to factory settings. Best regards

I have the latest versions, and I tried with a cycle is too big for my liking., but still the same. I'm now trying wth a selection list, it seems to be working ok. Some tricks I have been told work for HMI/PLC communications is to create a DB for all your HMI tags, controls, and anything that will get displayed or controlled directly by the HMI. Then respond to the DB tags in the PLC. For some reason of communications efficiency, I think it allows the hmi to make one tag call to get all the hmi related data returned. It just calls something perhaps like "give me db x from byte a to byte b" then the hmi processes within the returned results. Maybe this technique will work for you? Be careful with plc datatypes and hmi controls. I think with the current versions, the hmi does not handle some plc datatypes in all situations, maybe like an array of motor, where motors is a custom plc datatype with on-off-control : bool; speed : int; on-off-status : bool (or something like that).
