Hello all, I have a serious problem that I am stuck with. I have a SIMATIC S5 PLC, S5-115U / CPU 945 (6ES5 945-7UA21) with an IM 308-c (6ES5 308-3UC21). I am using com profibus 5.1 with SP2 and hotfix 1,2 and 3. I have to connect to the IM308-c master a gateway, a profibus to ethernet gateway from adfweb, the model HD67563M . When I try to import the original GSD file from the gateway manufacturer, the "com profibus" software doesn't recognise it. I finally managed to understand that the GSD file includes some parts that the "com profibus" doesn't like. The part is in bold below (I commented it): ;============================================================================== ;==== Module-Definition-List ================================================== ;============================================================================== Module="DI (PORT1) " 0x42,0x01,0x00,0x01 1 EndModule Module="DO (PORT2) " 0x82,0x01,0x00,0x02 2 EndModule ;SlotDefinition ;Slot(1) = "Slot 1" 1 1 ;Slot(2) = "Slot 2" 2 2 ;EndSlotDefinition If I comment it, the GSD is imported and I can add the gateway to the profibus. But I am not sure wether the commented part is really needed, cause the gateway is not seen from the master. Anyone can help me? I am really stuck. The full gsd file is attached to the post. Thank you to all. Nick Attachmentadfweb.zip (250 Downloads) |

Hello nlanfran interesting problem you came acrossI must say and two thumbs up for the detailed description of it. Good news first: You have the latest COM PB version (V5.1.2.3)which supportsusage of GSD files up to including GSD Revision 3 (see Does COM PROFIBUS allow all versions of GSD files? for more). Not so good news: The GSD file of your Gateway is declared to be a GSD Revision 5 one. Possibly good news: Just because the developer of theGSD file declared it to be a GSD Revision 5 one, does not necessarily mean that his DP Slaves uses/supportsall the "bells and whistles" that are allowed by this (I doubt it judging by thesimplicity of theGSD file). Here's what I don't quite get yet though: You say that only commented out the "SlotDefinition"related section of the GSD file and COM PB then allowed import of it. "SlotDefinition" is however an optionalfeature that was introduced with GSD Revision 3 (see Description to create GSD files for more, if you are a member of PI, you can downloada later version of it from their webpage too). Since GSD Revision 3 files are supported by your COM PB version, "SlotDefinition" entries should be supported, so I don't understand why you haveto commentthem outto make itwork (and admittedly haven't tried to replicate your problem). Having said all the above, here's what you can do: 1.) Ask the DP Slave supplier if he has a GSD Revision 3 file for his device and try that. 2.) Leave the "SlotDefinition"commented out ("SlotDefinition" is onlyan optional entry in athe GSD file of a Modular Slave) 3.) Ask COMDEC for adivce (contact details are in the first link) I hope this helps and pleasekeep us posted on what you find out |

Hello. I have imported your .gsd-file from first post without any problem in ComProfibus V5.1.2.3 and made a simple configuration. Look at screenshot. So, may be your ComProfibus was not installed correctly? Did you try to reinstall it? AttachmentADF.zip (284 Downloads) |

Hi KSN, thanks for your test. It is very strange. What operating system are you using for your COM PROFIBUS installation? I have created a VMware Virtual Machine with a fresh installation of Windows 2000 Professional with SP4, and installed COM PROFIBUS, then updated with SP2 and HF 1,2,3. I had no problems during installation of the COM PB, but still I get an error when I try to import the GSD from my first post. You can see it in my screenshot. Actually, all the created GSD files from different ADFWEB gateways have problems during the reading into COM PB. This morning I removed and reinstalled the COM PB with SP and HF. Still without success. The VMware is not the only OS where I installed the COM PB, also on at least 2 other computers I have the same problem with the GSD. I don't know what else to think ....
