i have CPU S7-1200 and HMI from Stahl ET208.

I made visualization on HMI, but now I cannot connect CPU with HMI.

I want to connect through S7 Ethernet.

Any advice or example?

sorry, I don´t know Stahl - HMI but if you have S7-1200 with firmware >=V4.0 you must enable "Permit access with Put/Get comunication for remote Partner (also HMI...)" - perhaps this helps!

You find these settings at the properties of plc under Protection (scroll down...)

Hello,

what SW you're using to make visualization on HMI? Probably there can be selection of PLC driver, maybe also Siemens S7-200/300/400 or S7-1200/1500, also maybe Modbus TCP. If Siemens driver isn't implemented, try Modbus TCP driver, but HMI can probably act only as TCP client, so your PLC as Server. In that case you must prepare some memory for data. Can you pls check this and give us info about driver on HMI?

I had a very quick look at the website hosted for the HMI.
The "S7 Ethernet" is Profinet connection.
Furthermore the link seems to be only to global DBs.
I do not know if it is absolute addressing or symbolic.

@matkosi - I also do not know this HMI.
I do not know what you need, but Towsome made a very good suggestion.
The best would be if you ask the HMI guys for a sample program.

Else you have to tell us a few things.
* What is your knowledge of the S7-1200...
                do you know how to create a DB?

* How does the HMI link to the PLC? 
   + absolute addressing like DB1.DBW10
   + symbolic addressing like "myDB".myValue
,,,, a screen capture of how the tags / variables are created in the HMI software can go a long way.

At the PLC side you can create a global DB that does not use optimized structure and allow the HMI to link to it. - - - the guys can help you more if you help them knowing the HMI.. a community driven project (wink).

The instructions are for TIA V10.5 - - - ouch!

It confirms (I think) that absolute addressing should be used. Also Towsome suggestion is a must, not just a option. The options for the tags / variables inside the DB needs to be set to allow access to the HMI.

With a s7-1200 CPU, Profinet would seem a very easy connection. Unfortunately, manuals for comms seem hard to come by in their website. You might want to try their user information page;

I don't think 10.5 vs V11 to V13 is an issue for the current application.

Just pay attention to the "Permit access..." of the "Protection" tab in the properties of the PLC.

Good luck finding the exact setting to deselect that states..
"Only Symbolic Addressable"
(directly translated from German)

Especially true for TIA V13
when it is "hidden" in the properties of the DB
and now states
"Optimized block access"

Then the other tick mark to have..

and as mentioned before..

Maybe we can create a test program with a DB if we knew what PLC (exact type / order number) was going to be used... just to move things along.

You can also see what they do with the S7-1500:

"Connect to automation-system" > "SIMATIC S7-1500"

If I remember correctly, S7-1500 was not in V10.5, but their first printscreen show where to open Portal V10.5

Here are the things they do:

#1 They uncheck "Optimized block access"

#2 Give full access to the PLC and permit access to remote partner

#3 Give HMI access to the tag in the DB

That's it!

I am pretty sure this will be the same thing for the S7-1200.
