Problem with "default" on text lists?

Anyway i noticed that if i select "Default" on one of the values of the text list, when i change the status of the TAG on the panel throught the "Symbolic I/O field" button, i cannot choose back the previous value... Like i have 2 values, Yes (default) and No, if i change to No, i can't change back to Yes, it just doesn't show anymore! If i don't set any Default value on the text list (so i just set the value of the tag on the correspondant DB of the PLC), it works without problem! So the question is: is it a bug or i don't get the real meaning of default value? Thank you, Daniele

I attached here the screen of the page i'm talking about, as you can see now i have not selected a "default" value, if i select it, when i download the project on the panel i have the problem i'm talking about in the previous post! I hope this help to understand what i'm talking about! :) Hi-ya, Thank you for the image, it was very useful to understand what the issue is. Please find attached a JPEG that explains what the DEFAULT setting in a text/graphic list does. In the JPEG is a design and simulation for a KTP400 Basic panel. On the left is the design constructed with a WinCC Basic license under TIA V13. On the right is the simulated device with a tag simulator. The value of the tag used in the Symbol I/O Field has been set to a value that is not covered by the text field. The Symbol I/O Field thus displays the DEFAULT value. So.. any value for the tag that is not 1 to 9 will display the DEFAULT message. You were right to do what you did - not having a DEFAULT. You may however decide to have a message that explains to the user he needs to select a legal selection. The DEFAULT setting however does not make sense in a YES/NO type of bit field, as there is no illegal values.. only TRUE or FALSE. ... unless the system knows it lost communications and selects the DEFAULT for that case - - that is what a non-Siemens brand of panels do.
