Problem with installing DIGSI on WINDOWS 7

RIHANA Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I have problem with installing DIGSI 4.83 on WINDOWS 7. when I try to install, i get an error Massage and installing is aborted. any solution?

It could be operating system. look at Software requirements MS Windows XP Professional Edition (with Service Pack 2), MSWindows (with Service Pack 4) or MS Windows 2003 server as operating system. I mean something like installing a Service Pack on Windows or other software. and if not, when it will be possible to have a version of DIGSI being compatible with Windows 7 ? any way Windows 7 is a new OS andtoo many users all around the world are using this OS. again thanks.

I am afraid also there hasn't any SPs or Hotfixs which wouold helps. But Siemens works at this direction. Their software to be compatible with Windows7. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Unfortunately DIGSI is not compatible with Windows 7. Why you did not try to use vmware and install DIGSI into virtual machine? Regards

In future this for sure will be change. In the other side to buy 32 bits system these days is a little bit stupid... Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Solution for any case, not only Digsi:VMWare or oder similar solution. Think in other situations where VMWare solves problems: - you have an old Simatic software installed on your computer, you cannot install a new Digsi because of incompatibility. You can have one VMWare image with Simatic and other with Digsi. - Updates from Microsoft must be tested by Siemens. There are some cases where after a windows update, the software stops working. With VMware you update your Windows (host), not the virtual Windows, which will have for ever the basics installation - you receive a new computer, or must reinstall Windows. How long to install all your softwares? With VMWare simply copy the image back from the backup. As I run the Images directly from an external hard disk via USB, I don't even have to copy the images. - for some reason your software (Digsi, Simatic) is corrupt and you must reinstall it. With VMWare you can keep backups from the images, so you will always have working images. Still not convinced? Maybe XP mode from Windows 7 is also a solution. I never tested it. Mike J
