I'm trying to communicate using MODBUS TCP a CPU S71516 3PNDP FW 1.7 (acting as client) and a CPU S71214C FW 4.1 acting as server. I'm using TIA PORTAL V14 SP1, last update 5

Perhaps, somebody could say weather i'm silly, but it's only a class task for my students, becouse i'm a technical training teacher, and I'd like show them this topic. 

 I have created a TCP programed connection block DB in the PLC's client program by using TSEND/TRCV operation assistant, and it's defined as active established connection.

In the PLC that acts as server I've copied this communication DB block, and i have changed the IP direccion, and the Active Established parameter to false.

I`m using port 502 at Remote Port item, and 2000 at the Local Port, within the PLC Client connection block. And just the opposite with PLC Server block, using local port 0 here, of course, for accepting all incoming connections to Modbus Server. 

I get Status 16#7006 when I'm starting connection putting TRUE in MB_CLIENT function block, at REQ input, and BUSY output always goes TRUE while REQ is true. I don´t get ERROR output true, it´s always false. STATUS server is 7006 too when I'm trying to communicate.

But I got to communicate the same configuration in other project with the same PLC, in all MODBUS areas at the same time, so lovely!  I heve programmed with V14 SP1 too, like now  

I'm thinking that the problem is provoked by the version of MB_CLIENT and MB_SERVER function, which are not the same version as in the success project, I have realised about that. But I don't know if it's posible changing the version of Modbus functions, when I'm dropping the funcion block from menu, TIA Portal uses this version and doesn't offer more posibilities.

hope I good understand your steps but I don't recommend copy some blocks from one to another CPU in this case. Simply create in your S7-1200 Server also TCON instruction and define connection or create DB with TCON_PAR option. Your Server need have defined IP and port 502 with no active connection established of course.

I have created a DB with TCON_IPV4 structure for programming connection TCP, assigning direction and parameters to the Modbus Server, as you have suggested me, but  I got the same answer, STATUS 7006 and BUSY continously true, and the connection either doesn't work. 

May you give me any idea more, please?

You told me about a PC Modbus Client for testing the PLC that acts as server, but I don'n know none. Could you say me about someone of this kind of software, wich it is for free, if it's posible?
