Problem with S7-300,CP340 and SINAUT MD720-3 communication

vinayl Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Dear Experts, I am working on a project in which I need to communicate to a remote static IP address with the help of SINAUT MD720-3. I have seen a similar application here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/27038105 where the end point is MICRO SC instead of a Static IP. To give a brief description, I have a CPU 315- 2PN/DP connected to a CP 340 via back plane bus on a rack. CP 340 is connected to MD720-3 with a serial cable. The MD720-3 has a GPRS enabled SIM card. I need to send data from a DB (DB1 for example) to a remote computer with a static IP. This remote computer will have an application running which will capture the data coming to the computer through TCP IP socket. The problem I am facing is that I am unable to make the CP 340 send anything through the help of WDC_SEND of the GPRS library which is given in the above mentioned application.I tried to go through the code of the program given to modify it according to my requirements, but it was in German and I could not understand most of it. Can you please let me know if there is a program which enables me to do the above communication easily. If you can send me the GPRS library in English and the instructions to use it in a program it will be extremely helpful. Anything which will make my project successful will be highly appreciated. Also 1 question is that, in the GPRS library manual, its mentioned that WDC_SEND and WDC_RECV are KNOW-HOW protected. But in the above given example, I am able to access both the blocks. Can you please let me know if its theoriginal WDC_SEND and WDC_RECV blocks that is being used in the program or has it been modified? It will be helpful if you can provide a simple application which initializes the SINAUT MD720-3 modem and should be able to send simple GPRS commands. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well... how should I say it... I fear the application you intend to do is not possible with the MD 720-3 as it is. The firmware used is created to be used with the OPC Server provided by SINAUT Micro SC, a native TCP communication is not possible. Nevertheless I thank you very much for the information about the free accessible FBs at the sample programs, I guess the developer will be very happy to resolve this. Best regards J_Bell

nickephx Posts: 8 Rating: (3)	As J-Bell mentioned, the MD720-3 module is meant to connect to Siemens software (such as Sinaut Micro SC OPC server) on the server side. If you are clever, you may be able to monitor the server-side traffic coming into into your static IP and specified port with a tool such as Wireshark. If you can isolate and decode the traffic, you may be able to develop a low-level application that reads it. Essentially, this means writing your own version of the Siemens software. vinayl Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Yes, I had already come to a conclusion that it can be done by monitoring the TCP/ICP port. I tried it too, but the packets that come are encrypted and do not make sense. I used Wireshark and other port monitoring tools. Given enough time, even the encryption can be decrypted. But time was of utmost importance in this project.I had to therefore go with a third party GPRS modem (Cinterion Mc532i). The project is working well. The only hitch is that, I do not know what to do with the SINAUT MD720-3 modem now.
