problem with S7-300 CPU314c-2DP

Hey.

I'm still in school, but we just got a Siemens S7-300 serie, same as in the title of the thread.

We have been using the 200 serie before. so we are having some trouble making the 300 work.

we are able to make a program, but the plc will not execute the program, when we run it with monitor on, it won't go past the first statement or what i should call it.

we have been trying to make it work for 2-3 weeks. if someone have any sugestions i would be happy to hear from you.

i'm just testing the digital in and out on the plc, so there is no complicated program this is how it looks:

-------|I0.0|-----------------(Q0.0)

that's all, but, when i monitor the program, the green line won't go past the I0.0. this is supposed to be a device that we are going to use on all our models in the class room. hope this makes sense, i'm not good at explaining.

So, if I understood this is real hardware. I mean, in input I0.0 you connect something (sensor). And when this signal is activate you should receive 'one'. First of all, most important is hardware connection. For this look at http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/8859629. Look at attachment. And you also could attach your project. This would be helpful.

ok, so we figured out what the problem is, it is set as profibus, but we don't want that.

but no i'm wondering how i can set it up as a MPI master?

first, i'd like to know how i can be sure that i have transferred my program to the cpu?

then, this is a device we made at school, it is supposed to control all the models we have in our lab. some things it will be used for: traffic light, a crane, a process wall, an elevator and ventilation.

we made a rack with the plc on. to each D/A in and D/A out we placed mini jacks, to make it universal.

my problem is, we don't know how to configure the plc, when we try to download the settings, it says that the online module is different from the offline module? in monitor mode, there is nothing happening. it's not supposed to be set up as a profibus. and i can't figure out how to set it up as anything else.

yes, it is a configuration problem. i'm not sure what IO modules are, but i can write down all the numbers on the plc. and we also use realys on the DO.

it's a CPU314C-2DP, 314-6cg03-0AB0 with 16digital in/out.4 blocks.

we have made a plate with a lot of minijacks, one for each port on the plc, and one for every realy, it's 16 relays.

is this what you wanted to hear?

Sorry, I didn't get you correctly. Are you using the onboard 24DI and 16 DO without any extra IO cards? If you are using extra IO cards can you also provide me your 16 in/out module no? [the part no can also be found printed on the module cover]. And also the quantity of your digital cards you have.

Attach is the sample of the hardware configuration in step7, the address input 124 -126 and output is 124 - 125. Thus in your ladder program[you can test in OB1 first] you can use 124.0 IN link tooutput 124.0 to test out.

One more thing, what is type of programming cable you purchased? There are 2 types.
In simple one is 9-pin type [PC adapter] part no: 6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0
and one is USB type [PC adapter USB] part no: 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0
Which type did you purchase? If you purchase USB type, you need to install the driver in your PC. The installation CD comes together when you purchase it.
