I am having a system where i have used a scalence access point 6GK5788-1ST00-2AA6 as the access point. This access point is stationary at a point. I have a moving wagon with IWLAN/PB link module 6GK1417-5AB00. The system communicates at a frequency of 2.4Ghz.

The moving range of wagon is around 50 meters from the access point.

The signal strength varies from 74 to 100 perecnt for the whole moving distance.

I am observing these two problems.

Whenever i switch off the whole system and then switch it on again then the communication is not established between access point and IWLAN/PB link module. In that case i reset the IWLAN/PB link module by switching it Off and ON. This happens every time. I am not able to detect the problem.

Second problem is that sometimes the communication between access point and IWLAN/PB link breaks and again i need to reset the IWLAN/PB link module.

Any suggestion as what else i can look in to.

May be you can try increasing the KEEP ALIVE time from default value of 30s to 600s. Keep alive settings are under PN-IO properties of CPU. Check if problem-1 or problem-2 of yours disappears.

Are you using CBA for communication between Access point and WLAN/PB ?

1. No i am not using Profinet CBA communication.

2. Where exactly can i find the KEEP ALIVE time of the CPU, i am not able to find it.

1. signal strength: What is that in dB? Please don't use too high signal strengthes.
2. restart: what means "not established"? What is behind your IWLAN/PB Link? PB slave? What is the update time for the IWLAN/PB Link?
Please have a look in the WBM of your access point and check if the IWLAN PB link is associated after the restart. (my question: is it a timing/connection problem between PLC and DP or is it a problem between client and access point?)
3. communication 'break': again: what exactly is the break? do you have some f-application? are you using iPCF? what is behind your IWLAN PB link?

in general: have a look at the logs. what is the entry there?

genereal hint: please check the firmware versions of your IWLAN PB link and the W788-1 Pro (Version V1.3.3 and Version 3.4.11 )

1. Not established means no communication between Access point and IWLAN/PB link.

2. There are two DP slaves behind the IWLAN/PB libk.

3. Update time of the IWLAN/PB link and slaves is 32ms.

4. I have checked in WBM of access point, IWLAN/PB link is not associated after the restart.

5. To me it seems a problem between client and access point.

6. Version of IWLAN PB link is 1.1

7. Communication breaks again means no communication between client and access point.

What i can not understand is how the communication is estabished between client and access point after i make the power of IWLAN PB link Off and then ON again?
