Problem with sinumerik PLC in S7 project after V5.5 upgrade

TomGWarrior Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hello all, After upgrading from Step 7 V5.4 to V5.5, I am now having issues with a couple of projects where the PLC 314C-2DP (integrated into a Sinumerik NCU 571.4 6FC5357-0BB14-0AA0) is not being recognized, and therefore nothing shows up in the project. I do not have, and never have had the 840D package installed. The previous version V5.4 did make note of some hardware mismatch with the hardware catalog (see attachments below), but this did not impede the use of the project for online troubleshooting with the PLC. I have tried udating the hardware catalog via internet and by downloading the hardware updates but while the catalog is updated, the issue remains unchanged. Any suggestions, known issues with this PLC and the V5.5 software? Thanks Attachment 314c2DP.zip (197 Downloads)

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (484)	Hello.... In your case it looks like there is no Sinumerik product PLC tool box is installed...See the Screen Shot attached....try installing this... It looks as if Siemens has changed something in the new Step 7 V5.5 where the 840d package must be installed as you said. I just find it odd that the 315 series plc's do not share this problem, just the 314 series. While I do have a warning message appear stating the 840d package is not installed when opening a project with a sinumerik 315 series PLC, it does not affect the online functionality of the software, this has not changed as compared to any previous versions of step 7. To me this just seems to be a glich in the software, but I will check with our supplier on the cost of the 840d package, I hope it is free () otherwise I may have to set up a separate laptop with an older version of step 7 specifically for two machines (undesireable). Thanks again.

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (484)	Hello.... Nothing problem with the software when you are working with Sinumerik product...you need to have this PLC tool box. Without this commissioning will be difficult. Tool Box CD comes along with package...you can askfor it.... Regards, Prakash
