problem with Siplus 315

ameic Advanced Member Joined: 7/21/2010 Last visit: 2/4/2024 Posts: 54 Rating: (1)	dear expert, we have a siplus cpu (315f-2dp ). that it was not possible to connect into it when the memory cardwas inserted, and whenwe removed the MMC the connection was possile but we cant download hardware configuration or any block of program. when we try to download a kind of this message apeare: there is not enough memory! when we try to reset the cpu this message apeare: STOP: backup buffer contents inconsistent Illegal memory submodule: replace submodule and reset memory STOP caused by CPU memory management and when we try to connect to cpu while MMC is inserted it says ( The connection cant be established!) and now I,m wondering that what is the mistake or problem with my work? and can I use the siplus CPU without MMC or not? thank you and best regards.

Older models of the CPU 315-2 used a RAM or EPROM card as load memory, with battery backup; the newer ones use MMC cards, which are based on NFLASH technology, as load memory, and do not have a battery slot for backup protection. So the question does have its importance. If you have a newer CPU with an MMC card, load memory is totally dependant on the MMC card, so you cannot load your program to a defective or already programmed MMC card. But comms will be maintained as it was on the previously downloaded configuration. I would suggest that you read the chapter on MMC memory (chapter 4) in this small document. I have exracted a few comments that might interest you: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/7302326 *Storage Concepts for SIMATIC S7-300 CPUs and for C7 Devices* [Extracts from chapter 4: CPUs with MMC slot] Depending on the CPU operation from the memory card (MC or MMC) Loading of user programs, hence operation of the CPU, is only possible in conjunction with a SIMATIC Micro Memory Card (MMC). Plugging in an MMC with a user program for a different CPU, might disconnect you from the CPU for as long as the MMC stays in the slot. In this case you must delete the user program from the MMC before using the MMC. If I were to venture a guess, based on the description of your problem, I would think that the MMC in question has either been used on a different project orCPU before; it could also be that it has been formatted in a standard card reader (and has therefore had its Siemens formatting overwritten) or that it is defective, You could try the solution proposed in this FAQ and see if it will fix your problem: How do you reset a SIMATIC S7-300 CPU and MMC (default reset or overall reset)? ameic Advanced Member Joined: 7/21/2010 Last visit: 2/4/2024 Posts: 54 Rating: (1)	hello dear the part no of cpu is: 6AG1 315 - 6FF01 - 2AB0 with a MMC and without any backup battery. and we already format the MMC in a laptop MMC reader ( not SIEMENS PG ) and after formatting, it was impossible to download user program and connecting into CPU. but i think we already downloaded the user program into the cpu without MMC! ( of course I,m not sure! ) so in this case your answer is very helpfull and now I know whats the problem! MMC ! but I dont know that: I have to use a new MMC or I can use the old one????? if using the old one is possible how can I format it into the SIEMENS standard format and download the user program into it? any way thank you very much for your guide and attention.

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 9/10/2024 Posts: 12282 Rating: (2682)	Hello ameic; Even if you had properly downloaded the program to the CPU with a properly formatted MMC before, the CPU will not run withour a MMC (load memory) slotted in its local. Now, once the MMC has been formatted oputside Siemens' recommended hardware, it is very difficult to re-format it. I have seen threads elsewhere that discuss the issue, even some sites that propose Siemens images for MMCs, but the correct implementation is not easy, The following FAQ will give you Siemens' point of view on the subject. Why is the SIMATIC MMC not read in my card reader (third-party device)? It would be simpler to just get a new MMC for your application. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

ameic Advanced Member Joined: 7/21/2010 Last visit: 2/4/2024 Posts: 54 Rating: (1)	hello and thank you againg dear dchartier Now I have a new MMC but when I tried to download the user program to new memory card, Simatic manager asked me for Password and I,ve never heard about Our PLC password! so what can I do When I dont know the password? is this possible to remove password from PLC? is there any default password that I have to try? and is this possible to download the user program to new MMC using another CPU? I mean Inserting MMC on a different CPU without pass and then remove it and insert it in the siplus 315 and just reset it? is this possible? if not so what can I do? thank you very much.
