Problem with WinCC 6.0 SP3 - Tag & Alarm Logging on W2003 Server R2 SP2

System: HP ML 310 G5 > Intel Xeon 3065 2.33GHz 2 GB RAM OP: Windows Server 2003 R2 SE SP2(i know it is not compatible) Win CC: WinCC 6.0 SP3 Simatic NET 2005 V6.3 HF1 B3234 SQL 2000 System hangs on startup when trying to start Alarm Logging Run Time and Tag logging run time. If I manually kill CCArchiveManager it proceeds with startup and freezes again on Tag logging then I kill CCArchivemanager again and system goes in DeActivating state and again freezes on Tag Logging run time but after few minutes it deactivates the project. But when I deselect Alarm logging and Tag logging in Startup tasks system scada starts with no problems. I tried to clear Alarm logging and tag logging folders in project but it doesnt help. http://rapidshare.com/files/153910026/Diagnose.zip.html thanks for help.

JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (45)	Well, You know the problem . Jokes apart,once you have an incompatible OS, it is very difficult to predict the problems and what causaed it. Moreover evenif you call tech support, the first thing they will ask you is to change OS or update your WinCC. There is also incomtibilty with simatic net. 2005 HF1 is only supported by WinCC 6.0 SP4. I would suggest you to correct the compatibility issues. Janac Posts: 134 Rating: (11)	solved it. Solution is Wincc 6.0 SP3 Hotfix2, and reseting Archives I really hope that incompatibillity wil not cause more errors...

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Janac, Compatibility can cause unexpected errors in the future... so.. maybe you should think about getting an upgrade for WinCC... You can see the compatibility list here. WinCC v6.0 SP4 is compatible with Windows 2003 SP1 Server Standard. The upgrade from v6.0 SP3 to v6.0 SP4 is free, and you can get it through this link. However, notice you'd have to use the Windows 2003 SP1 Server... WinCC v6.2 SP2 is compatible with Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, but the upgrade license from v6.0 to v6.2 is charged. You can get some further info on the upgrade license on this link. Before changing any version for any Siemens software be sure to perform a full compatibility check! Best regards, Danielle
