Dear all,

I want to configure a system including a 1200 PLC & et200 module.

If I connect their ports with an Ethernet wire directly, everything goes well. However, if I put an Ethernet switch between them, communication is lost. I have tried with a standard IT switch (from my office) and with a CSM1277, and no way.

In the post below, it is explained that no additional configuration is need for CSM1277 because is an "unmanaged switch", so I don't know what changes should I do in the hardware config...

I only have one PLC (192.168.0.1) and an et200s (192.168.0.2) and the subnet mask is well configured (remember that system communicates without using the switch!)

You say "the IP of the switch"... as far as I know, a standard IT switch has not IP address (it is not an active component) If I am wrong, how can I set this IP address?

Hello,

Maybe you are thinking in a router not in a switch?...Yes, routers have IP address, and you can acces it in a web page, but standard switches haven't. Also, there is not any option to change the IP in the CSM1277 in TIA portal

I didn't know that kind of switches, thanks for the info.

Anyway, my switches do not have this possibility. CSM1277 and my office switch are unmanaged switches.So the new question is: Is it possible to do this communication (PLC-SWITCH-ET200S) using an unmanaged switch?

Yes, I can ping them. And I also can download the project to the device without warnings or errors trhough the switch.
