Problems after installing WinCC 6.2

Thomas Sörensen Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I've just tried to install WinCC version 6.2 (incl. SQL Server 2005 SP1) and I'm experiencing problems with the Graphics Designer. When I try to open Graphics Designer, I get the error message "Fatal error! Failed to create APC host! Terminating!". When I select "OK" to this message, I get 4 subsequent error messages (screen dumps of all messages attached). I've tried the installation on two different pc's running Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2000 Pro SP4 respectively, but with the same result. Dec Gold Expert Joined: 5/19/2006 Last visit: 8/5/2023 Posts: 547 Rating: (107)	In WinCC 6.0the firsterror message isdue toproblems in creating VBAobject in Grafexe. The rest of the messages are due to clean-up oopsin grafexe exit. Do you have other software installedbesides WinCC? Dec P.S. Maybe you can post WinCCInstallation.log in here.

waterguy Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	I had the same problem with my installation. I had 6.0 installed, then uninstalled 6.0 and put 6.2 on it and recieve the same error message. I'm able to run my 6.0WinCC project and and it works fine but when I try to edit it with thegraphics designer I get the sameerror as yours. I tried to create a new project and got the same error. I have unistalled it and cleaned up all the Siemens' directories both in the"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Siemens" and in C:\Program Files\Siemens". I still have the sameerror. Iloaded it on several other computerswith out a problem. I contacted tech support and they gave me Hotfix5 but that still didn't fix the error.Do to project time constrants I have given up trying to get it to work on my system. I would like to get it to work so if you find something out let me know. I Googled it and found other poeple had the same problem. both systems had word, excel, access, adobe reader my system had outlook, trend micro office scan, visual studio C# express, solomon, and Java. All of with were installed when 6.0 was working. Thanks!

Formatting is not an option on this particular PCit is my desk top with email and would require IT involvement and most of the time they are very busy and slowto get tocomputers that stillfunction. I have it installed for our current project on the customers PC but I like to install it on mine to test out things before I implement them on the customers. I just saw the posting and thought I would add in what I had found out. I've for the most part given up on istalling it on my PC

waterguy Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	The project works on a clean install( at least two other PCs), just not on my computer. I tried to create a new project on my computer I get the same message. So it definately has something to do with the install and my other installed software. Or something is left on the system from the 6.0 unistall. I'm not sure if Thomas Sörensen had 6.0 installed on his PC prior to installing 6.2

Thomas Sörensen Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I'm sorry that I havent participated in the discussion earlier, but after having wasted a lot of time on this issue, I finally decided to continue my work using WinCC version 6.0 which was previously installed (I restored a HHDimage). Now that I have a little time to drill into the problem I will try to install version 6.2 to a clean Windows XP (I'm installing a new copy ofthe OS onmy computer). I havetried to install version 6.2 a lot of times and to use a new set of DVD's but without making any difference. I'll get back when I have the result of the installation to a clean HDD which I expect will work. Thank you all for your replies.

Now I've installed WinCC 6.2 to a clean HDD on the same computer, containing only WinXP Pro SP2 + all hotfixes + hardware drivers and I no longer have an issue with the Graphics Designer. I firstinstalled WinCC whileI was running IE 6 and afterwards Iupgraded to IE 7 to see if this made a difference, but I didn't see the problem with the Graphics Designer in any of the cases. My conclusion is that I apparently have some software installed which is causing some problems, but it seems quite difficult to locate the source. Once again, thanks for all replies to my question. Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi Thomas, You can check WinCC's compatibility with other Siemens products. Just search for WinCC, compatibility... There are compatibility issues with software not included in that list, such as WinCC Flexible as well... As Dec suggested, yuo can also check the installation log. Best regards, Danielle
