Hello, The problem is that CPU doesn't have Profibus port in order to make it a Master. There is possibility (need extra hardware) to make PC profibus master and then to connect IM153-2 like a slave there. Take a look atHow do you configure a PC station as DP master for connecting to a DP slave for the SIMATIC NET OPC server with the SIMATIC NET PC software? Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Hello nr123; You cannot install an IM 153-2 module on the backplane connectors of themain rack (where the CPU is installed). The CPU will reject this module as not being compatible with the central rack. The ET 200M is part of a family of distributed I/O using Profibus DP to carry signals bteen the main rack and the remote I/O modules. Families of ET 200 distributed stations (ET 200M, ET 200S, ET 200X...)are described in the following Siemens brochure: SIMATIC ET 200 - Automation Technology - Siemens To make this work, you would need to install your CPU inits main rack with at least a power supply, and on a seperate rack install the IM 153-2 with its own power supply and at least one of the I/O modules you have. Then using a Profibus_DP connection you could configure andcommunicate at a distance with the I/O module(s) on the remote rack, But since the CPU you have does not hace a Profibus-DP interface you would need to add a CP 342-5 as a Profibus-DP master interface to connect with the slave rack. The following link will take you to a series of tutorials by Siemens on the S7-300 platform, covering most of the training required to learn the programming and configuration of these CPUs. You could find them helpful. Module D talks about industrial fieldbuses, Profibus-DP amongst them, and shows how to install Profibus-DP slaves in the HWConfig. https://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/sce/en/advanced_training/training_material/download_training_material/Pages/Default.aspx Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
