Procedure when licence is lost

We transfered licences from supplied floppy disks to hard drive and everything works fine. However, I wonder what if hard disk fails or similar and licences stays captured and inaccessible? I assume we'll need to contact nearest Siemens representative, but don't know what is happening next. Does Siemens provide new licences or what? Are they free of charge? I hope we'll never experience something similar, I'm just curious, what to do in such cases? Thanks for help.

mmckay Bronze Member Joined: 9/21/2006 Last visit: 5/25/2023 Posts: 247 Rating: (56)	If your license is lost, you can either run in demo mode, use the provided emergency license, or generate an emergency license, depending on which product is involved. This is to keep you running until you have an opportunity to contact Siemens Technical Support. To get a license recovered, contact Siemens Technical Support. You will need to have a computer running Automation License Manager available, and will need to have the KHE ( = serial) number of the orginal license. The KHE number is written on the label of the yellow or red license diskette that the license originally came on. I think it is also on the license certificate. It is never a bad idea to record these KHE numbers in case you can't find thelicense diskette. With this information, the Siemens support technician will have you run the License Key Recover Wizard in Automation License Manager. You will enter the license information, and Automation License Manager will generate a "request code". The Siemens support technician will verify this request code and give you a "Activation code" that you will enter. Automation License Manager will then regenerate the license. The whole process takes just a couple of minutes, and can be done over the telephone in nearly all cases.

Yes, you're right, there is a KHE number both on yellow disk and on licence certificate which is located on the box in which cd and yellow disk are provided. Also, I know this procedure is free of charge, sothere is noadditional costs. Cheers!

Also save the license that's is coming on paper carefully somewhere where you can find it back easily.

Once again: make sure that you have the paper cerification of your purchase of the license (CoL: Certificate of License) that you received with the original license, use the Support Request link at the top of this page, fill it out correctly, and wait for the callback from a Siemens tech. This will generally happen within 24 hours, and the technician will guide you in restoting your lost license, after asking a few questions on the CoL. Hope this helps Daniel Chartier
