Prodave, S7-200, Reconnection after communication failure

Hello,
I have one question - how to reestabilish connection to S7-200 after communication failure?

I've done some experiments with S7-200 & S7-300. When I disconnect cable from CPU, d_field_read and as200_vc_field_read function returns result 4002 (connection not established). In case of S7-300, I can call new_ss function and it returns 0 (OK) or again 4002 (if cable is still not plugged) in ~100ms. For S7-200, new_ss function doesn't work. I must call first unload_tool (~1,5s) and then load_tool (~2,2s) and it returns 0 also if cable is still not plugged! Call to as200_vs_field_read returns again 4002 (< 1ms). When I connect cable back, _read returns 0 and then it works normally.

So, my question is whether there is any other less time consuming method to reconnect to S7-200 instead of trying load/unload_tool? Because 4 seconds for reconnection attempt is too much, when I want to cyclically try reconnecting to CPU.
