Profibus Cabling Requirments and Types ??

/-ICEpik Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Here's my situation. I have an automated carrousel that is fitted with Festo Profibus Modules and communicated via Profibus Solid Pair Cabling. The machine has almost always had communication issues and from my years of experience with it, it seems that with the constant movement and lack of cable support on the modules that the solid wire tend to break over time, in the connectors. (Similiar to taking a piece of wire and bending it back and forth until it breaks.) I have verified this time and time again, because the terminating end of the wire will fall out of the connector when I take it apart to check it. Not to mention, the connectors tend to come loose from the constant movement of the machine. We have tried ferrel's and have tried doubling over the solid end wire to make it bigger so the terminal connector will have more wire to bite down on. My question is multi-part: Is there an accessory part or strain relief for profibus connector ends that might work? Is there another type of Profibus Cabling ...(i.e... Strainded Pair wire instead of solid copper)?? I believe the constant movement, lack of cable support and solid copper wire in the profibus cable directly contribute to our communication problems we so often have. We have another carrousel machine that uses serial communication wiring and modules without problems. If I can retro-fit the problem machine with another type of profibus cabling that can support movement and the rotation of the machine and still work with the existing interfaces then that is my goal. I am in the process of researching strain relief parts and cabling options but any help is appreicated. Thank YOu. Joe
