I'm stuck trying to figure out how to configure ProfiBus communications between an S7-1517 CPU configured in Portal V13 SP1 and an S7-317TF-3 CPU configured in v5.5 sp4.  I need to send a few bytes worth of data back and forth between the CPU's.

The main problem is that I cannot drop the technology PLC into the device configuration in Portal as technology CPU's are not supported.  However, I cannot find how to set the 1517 cpu as a DP-slave (not an option, it seems) and I cannot find how to export the dp-slave config of the 317 cpu to import into Portal.

I would rather not use ProfiNet if possible as we like to keep our P2P and HMI comms on separate subnets and the extra ProfiNet card would add unwanted costs.

Any suggestions or documentation I could consult?

if you CPU317T is allready configured as DP_Slave then you can import the GSD File for this PLC and configure it depends on the configuration in Step7.

To configure the PLC 1517 as DP-Slave you need a communication module CM1542 or CP1542.
