Profibus communication with a GSD file

Hello friends,

I have a GSD file for 1 inverter and I have Step 7 5.5 SP3 , is there a detailed Siemens guide on how to set it up in the HW configuration and set the communication for how many bytes sent recieved and so on?

Hello,

no because this is a job for the publisher of the GSD File. And normaly documented in the Inverter manual.

In HWConfig you can easy install the GSD (Options-> Install GSD Files)

After the install the device is found in HW catalog under:

PROFIBUS DP -> Additional Field Devices

Which Inverter/GSD have you exactly?

I have a Vacon driver, uploaded the GSD.

It is the manufacturers case to put a manual for Step7 on how to configure the data communication of GSD files in Ste7 5.5 ? I did some Ylink connections to s7-200 PLCs before and configured the communication for 4 bytes out, 4 bytes in I believe .

Is it the same case here or would it be different ? knowing that I do not have the Step 7 5.5 software with me yet and I posted this to support a friend of mine, so I am particularly looking for a Siemens manual or a document that can explain the set up of a GSD file and it's communication in details

The Inverter working with defined PPO telegrams, so the configuration depends of the inverter settings.

The principles are described in the manual in the Link.
