Profibus communication

rarespieces Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Dear Expetts I have Electric mono rail system with S7-317 CPU , RIO's , IM 151-7 CPU on profibus. Recently i have added 3 Balluff RFID processor on profibus. (C-6002) My Problem is -- initially all the inputs and outputs were updating at a faster rate but as i have added balluff rfid the input and output processing is taking more time i have some critical operation to be done by some inputs and outputs Please tell me some solution by which the processing speed increases and those critical inputs and outputs are upadated on time. jklm Platinum Member Joined: 12/22/2006 Last visit: 1/25/2022 Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, I would first check if by adding these 3 slaves, you still comply with some basic rules like the number of decices/segment (max 32), the max. segment length (depends from the bitrate used). To be sure that the slow down is not also the result of transmission errors. If the segment is not too long, you could consider to increase the bitrate. And if required add a repeater to make this increase of speed possible. You could also consider to move the critical devices to Profinet IO (you have a PN port on your CPU, you could change the interface modules IM of the critical slaves to Profinet IMs). With profinet, the update time of a device does not depend directly on the number of devices controlled by the PN controller (there is no global target rotation time for the complete bus, but you can set an individual update time for each device, which is by default 2 msec)
