Profibus-DP Packet Structure

Let me make an example: suppose that we have 1 Analog Input and 1 Digital Input signals to be transferred via profibus-Dp to a master system (CPU-400 according to attached image) How the profibus-DP make analog and digital signal Packets and send them via bus? What's the structure of each packet? (data bits, header bits, footers…) When we say the baud-rate of DP-Line is (for example) 12 Mbit/s, it means, how many packets will be transferred in 1 sec. ? Under the folder with the PROFIBUS options you will find information about the maximum cycle time of your network. My experience is that normaly the cycle time is much faster. Or maybe you find a comparable configuration at the following page? Performance data for the communication via PB Good luck Sabine
