Profibus Fault MM440 turns on intermittent loss of Remote I/O data thermocouple

picengineer123 Posts: 95 Rating: (0)	Hello I have a customer with a hardware configuration depicted in the attachedp PDF. First Question, the hardware configuration includes all devices shown, but physically two slaves are not there (nodes 27 and 28). This leads to a continuous BF light on the CPU (400). Will this always be the case or can the scanning of the devices be disabled without removing them from the HW Config? These are future devices. picengineer123 Posts: 95 Rating: (0)	J_Bell Do you know why the image input for a remote I/O rack would on occaision indicate a "0"? If a rack cannot communicate to a master, I would expect an OB interupt due to a failed comms, is this true? Also, is the fact that the programmer inserted "future" slaves in the HW config problematic in the sense that the PLC always displays a BF because the slaves are absent. I am thinking that the programmer should remove the future hardware and remove any bus faults. Then if the problem only occurs when the drive faults, then this is a profibus problem. Basically the issue is that a drive fault leads to rack data issues. John

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear John, your are surely right, if the DP Master or PROFINET IO Controller looses a Slave / Device the representing values in the I/O area should show a value of "0". As well, as soon as the Slave / Devices drops from the Fieldbus you should receive an OB 86 call and you program the reaction to this fault. As soon as a configured and activeSlave / Device is not there you will see the BF, this is required and an appropriate reaction. As well as the second appearance of the OB 86 as soon as the Slave / Device is back. If you already configure Hardware which is not available yet you have two chances, first you do not configure it and you configure it at the time the Hardware is there... or you deactivate the Slave / Device with the mentioned SFC.
