Hello zeemens the 6ES7901-4BD00-0XA0 cable may not look like much, but is quite special indeed. It is specifically designed to allow the connection of a PG to a Profibus Networks for speeds up to 12 Mbps. The "bigger" 180 deg Metal Plug on one end of the cable has some"smarts" in it (mini repeater) which isolates the 3 meter Spurline from the bus to avoid avoid the creation of Spurline(even though it looks like a Spurline, it actually isn't) and you'll find additional info in the thread below: Spur line with a transfer rate of up to 12 Mbit/s Note that the product picture in THIS link is wrong and does NOT show the correct cable which is where the confusion may come from, see the attached pic for the "real deal". If you use a "homade" Profibus cable and Plugs to connect your PG (orlaptop with for example CP5512)to a running Profibus Network it would create a Spurline which has a good chance to take your bus out of action if operatedat higher baudrates. The other advantage of the6ES7901-4BD00-0XA0 cable is that its flexiblecable make it easierto travel with you in Laptop bag and last longer. I hope this helps. |

Thanks to fritz (and my curiosity) I just bought this cable, and would like to show you what's inside. As you can see there are: - 2 separated Profibus lines controlled via RTS-PG (!) from PG side - 2 stright lines for 24VDC - 1 stright line RTS-AS - 1 stright lien for 5VDC ground - 1 internal line for 5VDC positive So, in total there are 7 pins connected on PROFIbus side and definitely it is far from ordinary PROFIbus patchcord. Amazingly Siemens added a shematic for it (attached), while I could not found it on internet. I hope it will help to whom it may be useful. cheers, Zee AttachmentConverter 901-4.zip (262 Downloads) |

Dear all, Following my curiosity I have translated manual that I found into english. As you can see the strange is that: - it is dated on year 1996 - it is talking about Sinec L2 - it is misunderstable talking about Routers So I got some additional questions: - I know that on electrical level PB is the same like SINEC-L2, but maybe some RTS wires are specially for dealing with SINEC-L2, not used now? - Why it is written "repeaters avoided"? cheers, Zee Attachment6ES7 901-4BD00-0XA0 en.pdf (244 Downloads) |
