neo0111 Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hello friends, Can I used any RS 485 to Fiber optics converter for this purpose. I found one RS 485 to Fiber optics converter on net (ATC277-MM). But it does not specifically mentions Profibus to Fiber Optics converter as Siemens OLM module mentions. I think we should be able to use this, but not sure. Please comment. Thanks.

Magica Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hello,neo0111 Of course you could use any RS 485 Fiber Optical Converter on MPI,DP etc(485 net),including the Simens OLM. But the mode of the Simens OLM Fiber Optical is multi mode fiber,some other RS 485 Fiber Optical Converter is sigle mode fiber.so you have to take account of the communication length.The sigle mode fiber is much longer than the multi mode fiber. May this could be helpful. Magica.
