I am trying to configure a profinet connection between an 1212 and CU-320-2-PN but a connection cannot be established, the diagnostic states:

This is a configuration I have done many times before, the difference this time is the drive firmware, 4.6 to 4.8. I am using TIA v13 SP1, since I could not find the GSDML file for the firmware version I am using, I took a GSDML file from another installation of TIA v15, and used this method to adapt it for my telegram configuration:

Once installed in V13 I could find the drive object in the hardware catalog and add it to my project. The offline drive object appears with the correct firmware and part number but it still will not recognize the actual drive when I go online. 

What might I be doing wrong? Is FW 4.8 compatible with V13 SP1?

Thank you for your response. That is the same GSDML file I modified with the script I mentioned in my original post. The reason I modified it was, that GSML file does not contain all the same drive units that are available in my drive array. Just to be sure my GSDML file was not the issue inserted a new drive target in the harware network based on the GSDML file I downloaded from the link you mentioned (GSDML-V2.32-Siemens-Sinamics_S_CU3x0-20171106.xml). This new drive object fails to communicate with the PLC exactly as before.

You asked if I had configured the drive in Starter before hand, and I did exactly as I usually would. The Starter project I use requires the IO master to assign the drive a profinet name. I will confirm that the PLC has successfully assigned the configuration, but this is a common process I have done many times before.

I have something else to mention, while looking at the online parameter set in starter I can see the profinet cyclic connection state (r8936) switching between '[1] not connected' and '[3] module information expected'. While in state 1 the profinet IP address remote controller 1 parameter (r8961) is all zeros, while in mode [3] the correct ip address of the PLC is registered.

I should also mention, the communication light is flashing, not steady as I have seen it in other circumstances.

I went through the entire profinet configuration process again, this time using the custom GSDML file to ensure the drive objects were ordered correctly, and it worked. I'm not sure what changed this time, but I inadvertently corrected the issue.
