I have a project which I am working on, a 3rd party is programming and setting up a Baumer Verisens camera for a simple post production inspection. I am trying to set up an S7-1200 1214 CPU to handle the controls for the camera, as well as some basic data logging.

The Baumer Verisens camera is an XC700 1.2MP which supports communication VIA Profinet.  The users guide for the camera gives me information on which Bytes/Bits handle what information, my question is what is the ideal way to get these bits to interface with Step 7, Im not sure if I need to move everything into a data block using a SETIO/GETIO command or if there is a better way to do this?

I dont currently have the verisens camera at my facility, and once the 3rd party is complete there will be a time crunch to get it working. Any help is appreciated.

When you visited this web site and downloaded the GSD.zip and camera manual, what part were you stuck on? 

In TIA Portal, how to I address the bits identified by the manual of the camera?

I installed the GSD file and I can see in the manual what the bits are supposed to represent, but what are they addressed as by default or how do I set the bit addresses on the PLC side?

Hello,

after you inserted the GSD Device and assign it to the controller there should be 2 slots available

1.) Control and State

2.) Result Data

This are the adress which you can use to access the data you need.

I do have that, where I am struggling is how do I address the individual bits within the addresses of the slots? For example I have Control and State (276) and Result Data (32 Byte) (277)

It would seem that 276 and 277 are the addresses of the slots themselves, Im just unclear as to how to address at a byte/bit level within the slot.

For example, as identified by the manual of the camera, Byte 13, Bit 0 is "Total Pass", if I wanted to use that bit in my program what would I address it as or how would I assign that a Tag in TIA Portal?

276 and 277 are the start adress

now you add the byte offset +13 = 290 and then the bit Adress .0 = 290.0.
