 Quick question. How can I read from the Profinet Device. Completely new to Profinet. Already realized the connection between S7-1200 and Profinet IO device. But reading the parameters from the pump? I am left without ideas. Can anyone help. ?

Hello Jay,

When you connect Pump to Profinet, you have some I/O addresses reserved.

The documentation of Pump will give more information about those I/O Addresses

First step would be to locate and read the Profinet manual for the Grundfos unit, and see what data you can exchange with a Profinet client (your PLC), and you have dowloaded the CIM 500 GSDML file for inclusion in the Profinet configurator of your programming software.

• Section Functional Profiles: PROFIBUS and PROFINET for Grundfos pumps (Functional profile)

Second step would be to integrate the GSDML file from Grunfos in the Profinet configurator, so the CIM 500 appears in the Profinet catalog with all available data selections.

Third, you say you have configured the connection to the Grundfos node. That means you set the IP address of the node and attributed it a Profinet name, and selected data exchange settings between the client and the server.

At this point, if you open the configuration for the Grundfos unit, you should have a block of Input and Output addresses reserved for the Grundfos CIM500, dedicated to exchange the data with the PLC. The manual discussed above will tell you what these addresses correspond to, so you know what data is read at what PLC address.

Please show us a screenshot of the Grundfos configuration in your  Profinet pages so we have an idea of how you are set up.

 I had installed the GSDML file and configured the Device successfully and Module is Ok. But the problem is that I am unsure where I have to look for addresses and how to read it.

Btw what is the use of functional profile and how to integrate it in TIA. I think I missed to do that. I just integrated the GSDML file. Or  I understand something wrong?
