ahmedmae94 Posts: 103 Rating: (11)	How are you all I have PC with intouch scada istalled on it &CPUSIEMENS (with profinet interface) How can I connect between PC & CPU? in FAQ I read that << S5-compatible communication and S7 communication S5-compatible communication be used for data exchange with S7 stations, S5 stations and third-party devices. S7 communication can only be used for data exchange with S7 stations. You need one of the following SIMATIC NET PC software packages to be able to use these communication services including SIMATIC NET OPC server: SOFTNET S7 Lean - for up to 8 connections via normal Ethernet network cards, CP1612 or CP1512. SOFTNET S7 IE - for up to 64 connections via normal Ethernet network cards, CP1612 or CP1512. S7-1613 - for up to 120 connections via CP1613 (A2) or CP1623. PROFINET IO controller You need the following SIMATIC NET PC software to operate a PC station as PROFINET IO controller: SOFTNET PN IO - for up to communication via normal Ethernet network cards, CP1612 or CP1512.>> I don't know which case of the previous statement should I use? have I to use OPC server for scadaintouch ? if yes what's the description of it? J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well, you image shows CP 1623 in your PCs, is this true? If so I would not recommend the use fo SOFTNET S7-Lean. If you have only one or up to 8 PLCs and you connect to each PLC with only up to 8 Connection over all the use of SOFTNET S7 Lean for industrial Ethernet with a standard Ethernet NIC is recommendable.With this driver you have complete access to the memory or I/O areas of the PLC. If you have the CP1623 please use S7-1613 as driver. As far as I know supportsWonderware the Kepware OPC functions. This way you should be able to access the driver or theOPC Server directly. But I would recommend contactingWonderware for more details... I think I remember that they have some step by step instructions to connect to SIEMENS S7 PLCs. Best regards J_Bell

I noticed that SOFTNET S7 Lean doesn't support profinet !! in the attachment picture I noticed that , SOFTNET S7 Lean support S7 COMMUNICATION & OPEN COMMUNICATION !!!! please describe this point to me ??? also in the table you will notice that , he doesn't assign any HW card to use with SOFTNET S7 Lean !! only he said << SIMATIC PC WITH INTEGRATED INTERFACE>> what does he mean by this statement?? thank for your attention. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, answering your question is not really hard. Point 1. What is PROFINET actually? PROFINET is a Protocol based on Ethernet. If you want to communicate from a PC toa PLC CPU you may not use PROFINET IO right now, because the required functionality in PLC CPU side is not provided. So we need an alternative. The PN or better to say Ethernet interface on the CPU supports also the PG- and S7-Communication by default. Therefore I recommend the use of SOFTNET S7 Lean. Point 2. Let us think about the interface on PC side. As you may have noticed SOFTNET is a NDIS based driver for Network cards. Due to NDIS as being a standard interface on Microsoft Windows you may use any Ethernet NICs available for Windows. Most PCs available today provide already a Ethernet interface... so you may use this one, if you like to. Best regards J_Bell
