profinet io in real-time

I've got two cpu's 315 pn/dp in an ethernet network.I want to exchange critical data between the two cpu's but I need that communication to be in real-time, therefore not having dependance of the cpu's cycle time. If you need fast communication you should use at least 1 CP343-1Lean card in one of the CPU's because you can set these as a Profinet IO Devices, the other CPU can then be a Controller. At this way you have a solution which is steady and can have update time from something round 4 ms. Depending on the amount of data and the selected update time. If data isn't transferred fast enough you will get a Bus Failure. In the manual for the CP343-1 Lean is described how you can integrate this system based on PNIO_SEND and PNIO_RCV (FC11/FC12). Check out Chapter 6. Manual Part CP 343-1 Lean 6GK7343-1CX10-0XE0

But the ET200S CPU for Profinet will have this feature in the future. They explained this on the Hannover Fair. And when that one has the possibilities I think it's just sometime till the S7-300 will get these functionality too. But we will need to wait a 'bit' longer for that to happen.

Manchat Posts: 33 Rating: (6)	For fast data exchange you could use the PN/PN coupler device 6ES7158-3AD00-0XA0. This acts as a PN slave to both PLCs and will allow up to 256 bytes of data to be exchanged. You can find the support information under the entry ID 23865436 in the Product Support area.

I think the PN/PN Coupler is more expensive but it is the fastest way since you don't have the communication over the Backplane of the PLC and you don't need PNIO_SEND and PNIO_RCV which costs a certain amount of time. diogo.obpa Posts: 48 Rating: (0)	i'm still a bit confused with one thing...why do the 315 pn/dp cpu don't allow to exchange data directly as they've got an ethernet port... it seems the coupler a good way to solve the problem although it's more expensive, because it isn't necessary use any blocks and because it's faster...probably i'll adopt that solution thanks Diogo

But as you requested the fasted method I suggest ProfiNet IO communication which is something faster then regular TCP/IP communication and deterministic.
