Hello, There aresome limiting factors: - the number of frames the last switch must handle (cumulation of all the frames that must reach the CPU) - the forward delay in each switch. Fromthis manual: PROFINET System Description http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19292127 Recommendation for configuring the RT real-time communication ● The more nodes a message frame must allow through from the IO controller to the IO device (line depth), the greater the update time or response check time of the respective IO device should be. ● With an update time of 2 ms, the line depth can amount to up to c. 30 IO devices. A greater update time enables a greater line depth than 30 IO devices. |
