PROFINET TCP/IP and Modbus TCP/IP

The communications would be both PROFINET and Modbus TCP/IP sharing the same ethernet wiring. My question is how can we use the PROFINET like simple TCP packets? The customer has no interest in using the Isochronous Real time function imbedded into PROFINET. If anyone has had experience in this matter, your help and information would be extremely helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (319)	Hello Zlatan, an ethernet network has got a defined physic. There are several protocols which can run via this physic. One of these protocols is Profinet another one ModbusTCP. The port number usually defines the protocol used. So if you use for example a CPU with PN interface, you can parameterise one connection for Profinet and another one for ModbusTCP, which is a special kind of TCP native. There will be no problems running different protocol via the same network. Regards, Kaulquappe

Profinet doesn't require any function block (i.e. T-block or put/get or TU block). IndustrialEthernet/TCP/IP in other hand requires these blocks. For Modbus I don't know... never used it before Janko

What Kaulquappe has said above is right and there is no contradiction. This seems more of a limitation of WinCC Flexible Software than anything else.
