I am setting up data exchange using the PUT/GET functions between a S7-200 (DT-60) which has a IE port and the 314-C2 DP that has been fitted with CP343-1 Lean.

First, let me tell you that the PUT/GET instructions are in the S7-200.

When this was done with 314 CP3-2PN DP, I am able to send and receive data from the S7-200. However, with the only difference with the 314-C2 DP, being that it doesn't have its own PN Port - it has a CP-343-1 Lean instead.

In the Net-Pro configuration, it appears that we are unable to set up a S7 connection needed for the PUT/GET exchange. Is this the reason why the communication doesn't happen?

Is there any work-around to achieve a PUT/GET exchange between a S7-200 (ST-60) and the 314-2DP + CP343-1 Lean as described above? Can someone help me out? I'll really appreciate any help.

I attempted using the link you sent, but I have run into one more hurdle!

The S7-200 we have is a ST-60 S7-200 "smart" PLC. This is not compatible with Microwin 4.x . We have to use "MicroWIN-SMART"

This means, we cannot set up the ST-60 as a client!." Microwin Smart" has a GET/PUT Wizard, and not the Ethernet wizard for setting it up as a client.

On the S7-300 side, we have foolishly used a CP-341-1 Lean Ethernet module that will not support the GET/PUT exchange! This means we cannot use either the GET/PUT exchange or the Client-server exchange! 

Is there a way out at all? or it is a Siemens intention to make us buy something expensive? 

Ah.. one more thing..

If you use the ST-60 smart PLC, even WinCC can't access the data using  PC Access SMART's OPC server. I have not had help on this issue either. 

If anyone can help us out, I'll be mighty grateful. Customer is losing patience and we've run out of ideas.

ok, Lean CP can use S7 communication without problems but only as Server. I see Towome's link as helpful. As you informed, try use GET/PUT wizard on your CPU (ST) and set it as Client, only Client you can be in this case of S7-300 has CP343 Lean processor. In other case, you can create user open TCP communication, you need prepare it on both sides programatically. Your ideas?

Update: better say, I don't know in deep SMART solution, if you be kind tell us if there is problem to set your ST CPU as Client. Give better info, maybe you can zip screenshots from ST SW cfg to see what is available there. Give us more details to help you better.

another hint due your message about CP343 Lean. In this case you need on S7-300 side only define correct Network subnet, assign it to CP, define some memory area for data and that's all. Other things with S7 communication will provide Client - Smart PLC. Due help to Smart PLC you need set there where are data on Server located - memory block or DB. I see only this as S7 PUT/GET solution.

I really wish it worked the way you suggest. Unhappily for me, it did not.

It was straight forward, to set up the PUT-GET exchange in ST-60. This method worked in case of 314-2PNDP we have in our office. Since the ST-60 does not support DBs, we successfuly transferred memory bits MB10.0 and 4 bytes thereafter.

All the same, because at site we have CPU-314C -2DP  with CP-343-1 LEAN, the PUT/GET mechanism did not work. Because the "Lean" CP does not support it! Of course, we took care the subnet was the same and the read-write areas correctly defined. 

Since the "Lean" CP-343-1 will support client -server communications. Next we tried configuring the ST-60 as client. Unfortunately This "SMART" PLC uses a different software called MicroWIN-SMART, where we cannot configure it as client. 

So As I see it the arrangement of ST-60 communicating with CPU-314C 2DP+ CP 343-1 Lean will not exchange data through Industrial Ethernet.. Either the "Lean" CP Or the "SMart" ST-60 has to be replaced.

thnx for info. Again, I'm not familiar with Smart system so hard to recommend something, but CP343-1 Lean support PUT/GET without problems but only as Server, so partner need to be set only as Client. In other case (as I've recommend before) there is also option for open user communication via Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol. If you have other choice, yes, replace existing system with higher, better. You'll have better solution to future. Good luck.
