Q: New features in TiA Portal V13

The demo was prepared well and nothing went wrong, exactly how it should be. But I know in practice this is not always the case, so here are my questions: Have anyone tried using PLC proxy, what are your experiences with it? Did everything went as smooth as you thought? Are there any disadvantages or bugs you've encountered? Migration of HMI software has always been tricky and the results are mostly unexpected, now with the new version they included a bunch of migration tools (like tagsexport) and the demo showed a migration from flexible to V13 with little to no bugs. Now the Siemens represantative ubviously knew which warnings/errors would appear (he would even tell the warnings before the compiling was done) and quickly solved them... So that why I'm asking the same questions for migration of HMI software. What are your experiences? The Pro's and the Con's. Also I have my doubts about the tracing functions, I don't see any real advantage, isn't this function the same like logging a tag on an event and displaying it on a trend? Maybe just an easy way to do so? So again, please share yourexperiences. Thanks in advance and I hope to receive some informative input. Kind regards, Jens

Important is here the synchronization of the project when multiple users are working on the same project at the same time. See in this case the FAQ which was also helpful for me: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/82142829 To 2.) Regarding migration, there are a lot of informations in the internet. See the overview FAQ: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/56314851 To 3.) Regarding trace function I have no experiences with new functions in V13. My goal wasn't really to receive manuals or explanations from Siemens, but rather to receive personal experiences with those new features. I know these features exist andare well documented. Sadly enough despite the efforts of siemens the experience of users might differ from the reaction they expected. So how is your personal experience? Is it all as easy as they make believe? Are the functions useful or are they just overloading TiA with as much features as possible to convince customers to upgrade to the latest version? I guess I just need convincing and not just the "how to's and know how's". Thanks anyway, and hopefully you share your experiences. Kind regards, Jens

I didnt used it in detail but just watched it while learning to work on TIA portal v12.

I put in the trace, variables like set speed, act speed, error speed... And for me it is a usefull tool for testing and setting parameters axis. I think it could be usefull for monitoring temperature regulation for example, but I know that the time saved values are limited. Regards,

It's nice to hear someone talking out of experience. I've heard tracing is very cpu intensive, it increases the cycle time and the tracing function should be deleted after testing. Kelu Posts: 88 Rating: (12)	Unfortunately I didn't have check the cycle time. Because I use the trace function only for a few minutes just the time to make 1 or 2 movements with my drive. I believe that when I am OFFLINE with TIA, trace is automatically disabled in the CPU, I'm not sure. And of course it stop always when it has reach all these mesure points. Next time I will use it I will check that. Kind regards,
