Q- On IM 36x Modules

I have downloaded the related document from the Product Support tree (which is a datasheed about the modules in general (not all about IMs)). This datasheetis givingspec-like info. I think I understood some stuff with also google, but I couldn't get this: IM 360 is for sending and IM 361 is for receiving. Does this affect the I/O modulearrangement order on the racks. Like do I need to place Input modules to sending rack and Output modules to the receiving racks? Or do I need some serious reading about using these modules . I would be glad if you canalso suggest any publishings on how to use IMs and program with the Multi-tier structure (if its a complication in the program side to have a multi-tier structure. Thank you in advance,

Hello Arwtip, You can mix the I/O modules in rack 0 and all the other racks. The IM360 must be used in Rack 0 and the IM361 must be used in Rack 1, Rack 2 and Rack 3 Best regards, Wizard

As Wizard points out, you can add any type of SM after the IMs, along with most CPs and FMs. For more details on the technicasl data of the IMs 360/361 and of the IM 365 (only for one remote racks, no CP or FM in the remote rack), have a look at the chapter on Interface Module in the following manual: SIMATIC S7-300 Product information for the S7-300 Automation System Manual, Module Data You can easily create your own configuration testfor your S7-300 in the hWConfig editor, using expansion racks and placing the required IMs in slot 3. HWConfig will tell you if any module is placed in a non-acceptableslot, or cannot be configured based on the selected hardware. It's the best way to start learning. You have profibus or profinet couplers and you can put them in remote cabinets, this is very usefull if you plan to make a intelligent house or building mangment.
