Dear experts

As a "newbie" in the PLC program development, I would like to hear about general practices and usage of development and quality assurance processes and life cycle management when preparing PLC software. 

It seems like in the "classical" software development (meaning PC applications), the standards for everything mentioned above are there and they are recognized in the SW industry. I am not sure if this translates directly into the automation world where, for example, there are no QA departments or even a QA engineer specifically for PLC program development.  

Please share your experience, what standards and processes are used by you or in your company?
