After quite a lot of searching on the internet I'm still confused about the licences for the PLC and HMI.

I want to buy an s7 1215c and a HMI TP700 comfort panel. Do I need and extra licences to buy separately?

 you need at least the following creating the applications:

- "Step7 Basic" license for the PLC (can use "Step7 Professional" license, too)

- "WinCC Comfort" license for the HMI

If I'd go with Basic KPT700 HMI instread, would a basic Step7 licence be sufficient for both (plc &hmi)?

WinCC Basic software license 6AV2100-0AA05-0AH5

WinCC is for Panels and SCADA and Step7 is for PLC programming. So two licenses are must

I'm back with one more question.

I found this: 6ES7822-0AA05-0YA5 - apparently it can be used for s7 1200 and BASIC HMI panels.

Can anyone confirm it?

 It's quite clearly stated in the info:

6ES7822-0AA05-0YA5

for configuration of SIMATIC S7-1200 and SIMATIC Basic Panels

So no need to buy 2 separate licences... why doesn't Sioemens make it more straitforward? ...

I think so step 7 basic is enough for HMI KTP 700 Basic
