question about UltraVNC

If that is your question, then yep, it most definitely does asI have it sitting her on my PC doing just that. Quick run down on what I am doing and see if it helps you in anyway and hopefully cover the questions you have asked. I havea PCS7 project installed on a PCS7 Box that is located in my customer's premises 120 miles away. With the OK of their IT dept, I assigned a static IP address to the PCS7 Box that is compatible with their network. Their router that connects to the outside world internethas configured to allow TCP port 5900 (the standard port used by the majority of VNC software) to be port forwarded to the static IP address of the PCS7 Box. The PCS7 Box has UltraVNC installed as a service, I don't use Windows authentication, but that is possible I believe, not used it so can't really help on that one. I use UltraVNC 'static' password, i.e.a completely seperate password that is just for authentication the connection totheUltraVNC software. My PC ('tis actually a laptop) has a second 19" monitor attached to it and I have got Windows set to extended desktop. I've got my PC normal desktop set to 1024x768 and the second monitor set to 1280x1024 (which matches the resolution of the PCS7 Box). When I start UltraVNC viewer, I type in the WAN (Internet) IP address of my customers router, in my case this is static, but for some routers this might change.My connection request is then forwarded by the customers router onto their internal networkto the PCS7 Box. For example, WAN IP address of the customer router is : 123.123.123.128 PCS7 Box IP : 192.168.0.2 So in UltraVNC connection I use the 123.123.123.128 address and it connects all OK to the 192.168.0.2 of the PCS7 Box. Once I am connected, I move the UltraVNC viewer window from my laptop screen desktop onto the larger 19" screen and then maximise it to full screen. Once I've done that, it's almost like I'm sitting in front of the PCS7 Box onsite at the customers place. If your question about multiple screens was referring to a remote PC that has multi screens, then that is support too. I don't use it on this project, but I have used VNC in the past connecting to a remote PC that had 8 video outputs. When you are connected remotely, you just end up with a very large viewer window that you can scroll sideways to see all the other desktops. Hope this helps, it wasn't too long winded and I haven't tried to teach you how to suck eggs!!! Cheers Tim
