question regarding library and block catalog in CFC. prper way of using

Example: I want to create logic in a CFC chart. I select from PCS7 7.1 library an OP_D and CH_DI block. Simple function. Later on, I want to create another CFC chart and if I look at my BLOCK catalog, I can see also OP_D and CH_DI block. What is the relation between those two? Does it mean that I imported a block from my PCS library and is existing in my S7BLOCKS folder (offline). So the next time I want a block, I can select directly from my BLOCK catalog the blocks I want.? 1. Does it matter whether I select a block from BLOCK catalog or from library? 2. Is this a good way to use blocks? dragging from block catalog into CFC chart 3. If I need to change my programming, do I have to use a created library where I first drag blocks from PCS7 library to custom library and then drag them to CFC chart? 4. IF so, how can I do this when all my blocks are already used in CFC? 5. Can I get difficulties with different versions of blocks when going on the same way I do now? Thank you for viewing this..

If you insert a new block type (for example OP_D) from PCS library into the CFC chart, to copy system this block into S7 BLOCKS folder. For next insert this block type same versions into CFC charts in same CPU-program you can use PCS 7 library or directly BLOCK catalog. For insert this block type different versions into CFC charts you must use PCS 7 library (different version). Handling PCS7 library and customer library is same. Regards

My only comment is that once you have added/inserted a block to your project, it is more efficient to pull new copies/instances from the catalog-blocks tab. If you pull an existing block from the catalog-libraries tab the system must 'check' the version/date-time stamps of the library block against the block in your project (and therefore takes longer). Pulling a block from the catalog-blocks tab does not need to do this check. Anotherreason would be if you tweaked the default settings of the block (like changing the alarm/messages properties and/or changing parameter attributes). In this case you want to pull from your project (i.e. catalog-blocks tab) otherwise you will lose the tweaks. cabreytj

I wanted to make sure, that I don't get any warnings on using different versions. I'm developing on a laptop, so when I want to continue my work on the ES station, I have to use only the block catalog folder if I have custom changed blocks. And maybe it's best tocopy all my blocks in S7 offline folder to my custom library, sothat I preventthe use of different versions...correct? Thx. Regards, Sandor
