question regarding LOGO PT100 module

hamzasiemens Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hi ! I have a question regarding LOGO PT100 module . I want to use it to determine the temperature of a power generator. I havent purchase PT100 module yet but i want to know if i get PT100 module is there any need to connect temperature sensor with it ? or this module itself operates as a temperature sensor ?. Second i want to know where should i place this module if i want to know the temperature of the power generator ?. Please help me ! I will be thankful .

cdrshort Bronze Member Joined: 9/6/2008 Last visit: 3/29/2024 Posts: 134 Rating: (16)	yes you have to buy a pt 100 sensor. module is for direct atach of a sensor . the best place for the sensor is the return line from engine "head" to radiator but is beter to use also and a flow sensor or a level sensor at the reservoir of the water. this way you willread the temperatureand in case off broken belt or water los you will save the engine

hamzasiemens Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Thanks for the information , but i want to tell you that i am using 5KVA generator which dont have any rediator system as its for home use, so i dont have any radiating system in it. Second i want to ask you which type of battery voltage sensors are compatible with LOGO as i want to sense the voltages of the battery use to start the generator . Third question is that, can you tell me the price of AM2 PT100 module ? if i am using LOGO 12/24 V it have 4 analog inputs so is it possible to connect temperature sensor on any of these input ?

( moderator will be come mad ) now thinks one by one . if your engine is aircooled then perhaps you dont need to use a pt100 sensor ,exept if you plan something else ( display etc) . you could find some thermostats that they can be fit in the zylinder head of the engine and they give you a no/nc contact free and you conect it to the logo.( like the one they use for thesmall transformers -welding machines etc) http://www.thermodisc.com/productdetail.asp?ProductID=80 for the batery voltage.if you want to mesure the voltage you need a converter from 12or24 vdc to 0-10v. http://www.luetze.ch/Suppression-Technology-Interf.14+M5a585329a6c.0.html dowload "interface technology "( page 1-37) but you could find and some other solutions http://www.bernini-design.com/ they have a batery chargher with an aux contact. the price for the am pt100 must be about 100 euro+/-.a converter from pt 100>0-10v is cheaper. if you havean analog input to spend. best luck.

hamzasiemens Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Sorry for posting same question but i just done that so that other may also know and if they know something regarding this they may provide solution but you are surely helping me alot. I have just design AMF and ATS panel and also interface it from logo now the problem is that i need to measure the temperature and battery voltage. I have 4 analog inputs i can connect battery voltage sensor to one of them but i am very doubtful about pt100, that why there is another module for it why cant we connect it to the analog input. Still you provide me with very useful information but i want to ask you as i dont find the answer or i didnt understod that correctly that can i use pt100 with one of the analog input as i just want to see the temperature of the machine but not to control it ? and if i use it with analog input so i dont need AM PT100 module right ? . I want to tell u that i am working on a cost variation project using logo and i need to interface ATS, AMF, temperature sensor and battery voltage sensor with logo 12/24. Thanks for your support and kindly forgive me for the mistake .

hamzasiemens Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	is connecting thermostats to the cylinder of the engine and interface it with logo gives me the display of the temprature on the LOGO ? and using thermostats then there is no need to use AM PT100, i just connect it to the analog input of the logo right ?

cdrshort Bronze Member Joined: 9/6/2008 Last visit: 3/29/2024 Posts: 134 Rating: (16)	if you have a pt 100 sensor then there is two ways to conect it to logo. a) usethe logo module am pt100 b) use a converterpt100>0-10v with both ways you have the temperature reading from analog input.the you may display or read the temperature value. bimetalick or any contact type thermostat you conectit by a digital input.no way to see or read a value of temperature. is just on off .
