Yes, CFC is only for PCS 7. It is most easier to write the program new. CFC is very simple to use. If you engineer you program in CFC, the associated picture symbols and faceplate are For beginners, Siemens provides a very helpful and easy Getting Started. The most functionalities for basic engineering are explained. With several step by step instructions, you learn more and more about PCS 7 and by the way you are engineering your first small project, called Colour Project. At the end you have a color mixing plant, with two tanks, which you can operate in the OS Runtime (no real CPU is needed; only PLCSIM).
