Read Instance DB # in FB possible in SCL S7-1500?

SilverATC Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Not sure if this is possible, and if I have to create an input variable for the FB to take it in I can but would prefer to do it automatically so I don't have to type in the number each time I call this FB. If I call a FB I wrote in SCL I assign it an Instance DB - say DB2. I want to somehow in the FB SCL code to be able to read that 2 as a DINT value as I need it for my code rather than have a constant 2 typed in to various places for DB assignment which wouldn't allow me to use the FB multiple times or I would have to have an input variable. Is this possible? OutputValue := InstanceDB# is the concept i'm looking for I think. Attachment FB CALL.jpg (280 Downloads)

Between the link cicero posted and understanding how to use the AT overlay, you should be able to access parts of your inputs in various ways without too much difficulty. If you want your array to be bits, or a word, just make sure the memory it is allocating is at least as large as the datatype you want to read it as. For example, if you want to read your input array as a DINT, you should set up an array of size 32 Bool [1..32] or [0..31] and not use the bits you do not care about. Hopefully this is somewhat useful.

SilverATC Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	I am using the PEEK_BOOL function inside my FB and one of the variables for that function is DB#### and since I wanted it to automatically call the DB# from the instance inside the FB I wanted to know if I could read that value since I can't use indirect addressing with the PEEK_BOOL but I needed an actual DB#. Its no longer an issue though as I just created a seperate input for the FB and now when I call it I need to insert the INT value of the DB#### into that input and everything works fine, was just hoping I could automate it. Thanks though, the link you posted does help with a different issue and would probably solve this with some added logic around and I'll try it the next time I'm tearing apart this FB.
