Reading Backup archive data when current project corrupted

Let assume that i've backup my entire database on Dec06. Let's assume that now Jan07, my harddisk crashed and all my archive data are destory. The most updated information (database) will be the Dec06 copy whichI've saved somewhere as. Now,with my new WinCC project,how could I getbackall the data (Dec06)?I've tried copy all the .mdf and.idf files back to thearchivefolder, hopingthat whenI call myalarm control windowson HMI will display all the data. Unfortunately,it's empty. Pls tellme how shouldI go aboutit? kee

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Not too sure I understand your situation. To recover archived databases you should copy the files into your CommonArchiving folder (and not the ArchiveManager folder). Hope this gets you up and running. Salma

sash Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I have the same Problem. I make backups for AlarmLogging, TagLoggingFast, TagLoggingSlow. I must change HDD last Week, and now I can not restore data from this backup files. I have copy backups to CommonArchiving, but no results. Any suggestion ?

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Are your backups just copies of the databases or have you actually backed them up (using SQLServer) ? They should be just copies and still in the .MDF and .LDF format. Secondly, make sure the Read-only attribute is not set on the files. This could have happened if the files were stored on a CD. Try "cut and paste" your alarm archiving from the archiving manager, then run your WinCC. You will not see any archived data displayed on the Alarm control windows of HMI. Now, put back the archived alarm by using "cut and paste" in the COMMONARCHIVING folder of WinCC. You will noticed that all the archived alarm you've removed from WinCC are back in the Alarm control windows. Hope you make it! Regards Kee

sash Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I still have problem, because nothing happend when i copy my files in CommonArchiving [:mad:] But now I find in Alarm Logging program function Link Archive under Archive Configuration-->Message Archive. When I link the last .mdb file, then i get some alarms back, now I must put the whole archive in CommonArchiving and Link it. It's this the right way ??

Something i found which i think would be nice to share and get your view. Few things found: 1) if you put the backup archive data back to alarm archiving folder, they woill automatically erased off. 2) when the WinCC is offline, I put the archived data into the CommonArchiving folder. It dont works. HMI cannot see the archived data. 3) this time, I put the archived data into the CommonArchiving folder when WinCC in Runtime, it's works. give it a tryand we should see how/what is the best way to ensure the archived data are carefully handle. kee

sash Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	@kee I have try your 3th point and this system for data restoring realy works - WinCC Runtime must runing and I thing this it's the optimal solution. In next days i will try this with my working scada station. Thank's kee [:)]
