Reading CPU status during runtime

cselvin Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Good morning I am currently programming a failsafe system with a 315F 2PN/DP CPU with a series of both failsafe and standard modules attached. Being relativelly new to Siemens systems, I am wondering whether or not there is a way to read the CPU and hardware status (such as CPU error, MMC error, hardware error, separate channel status and errors, scan status, scan cycle time and so on) to the program for evaluation and error reporting upwards to the plant operator system. To compare with, using a Mitsubishi PLC, I would be reading a number of predefined special function memory bits. Are there any comparable memory areas with a Siemens CPU? I have tried to find info regarding such items of interest in diverse manuals (both for the standard Step7 programming, CPUand the failsafe modules)as well as this forum but I have had little luck so far. Hopefullly there is someone out there who can take pity on me and point me in something of a good direction. Thank you in advance yours Christian S

Marko Bursic Platinum Member Joined: 9/8/2009 Last visit: 7/17/2023 Posts: 1410 Rating: (153)	There are various OB's where you can find this information (OB82, OB84 are most used), look in manual system and standard functions forS7-300/400. In case that specific block is not loaded the cpu goes in error and stops execution, if is loaded then an specific error triggers execution of speific OB and there you can find exact source of error and its your choice to stop the plc or continue executing even if error is active. You will find scan time in OB1. I don't know if there is a possibility to detect MMC failure, since theprogram is stored on it and cannot be loaded in work memory if MMC is broken.

Kris1976 Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	Take a look at SFC51 (RDSYSST), this SFC can read out some diagnostic info out of the CPU, depending on the parameters you provide when calling this function.
