Reading level data from PROBE LU 10

Twinsen Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	We have a SITRANS LU 10 with XPS-10 sensors attached. The LU 10 has Smartlinx Profibus DP module onboard. It is connected to PROFINET network of S7-400 CPU using IE/PB Link. The hardware configuration in Step7 is made according to Siemens "PL_demo" sample project (see attached picture). The problem is that all 42 words coming from LU 10 are zeros! The operation LEDs on Smartlinx are OK (Green LED is ON, Amber LED is ON, Red LED is OFF). What is going wrong? Twinsen Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	The P762 parameter is left with it's default value. The manual says it should be modified only if I want to limit the amount of data transferred over the bus.

SonicRanger Posts: 151 Rating: (8)	Hi Twinsen, I mentioned this because of the fact that there has been a firmware version (couple of years ago) where all P762 indexes were set to 0, resulting in no values over Profibus. Maybe a stupid question ( I don't know your level of experience with the LU10): Do you have already local readings on the sitrans LU10, or is the display still indicating "OFF"? Twinsen Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	SonicRanger, Thanks for the tip, I'll check the P762 parameter once I get to the plant on the next week. The local readings are OK - levels are correctly displayed on the PROBE LU.

Twinsen Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	SonicRanger, I've checked the P762 parameter and indeed, all indexes were set to 0. But even after I changed them to the values specified in the manual - nothing changed in regards to profibus DP values - same zeros everywhere... P790 says PASS, P791 = 0. Maybe faulty smartlinx module?

Mark_Wheeler Regular Member Joined: 12/16/2010 Last visit: 12/3/2024 Posts: 9 Rating: (2)	^{Hi Twinsen} One thing with the Smartlinx card ithat’s important is that you have to use 2 universal modules, don’t try to use a module type input/output. In hardware config add 2 universal modules make one input of 42 words and make the other13 words of output. Leave P762 at the factory default,to go back to default press clear enter when you are in the particular index of the parameter. Hope this helps, let me know.
