recommissioning from usb pc to rs232 on 810m

funxman Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	I have an early 810m on a harig 618 #104-c. During a recent video card change, we somehow lost our initial programming. I have all thecommissioning programs on my computer that we got from harig before they killed all support on this machine.I want to use my laptop using usb ports to communicate with the 25 pin on the control. Is there a definitive procedure for this? I am having no luck with an older pc going straight 25 pin to 25 pin crossover config? The cnc just doesnt take any programs. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, i keep getting asked if it is a GA1 GA2 or a GA3?Ive looked all around the machine and controller inside and out and see no reference toany "G" whatsoever.I know it is a mid eightys machine. thanks robert

Also, where can I get "PCin", I have several other programs ive been using, but although they seem to be sending - nothing is going into the NC.I looked for PCin because of early references to it but could not find a download for it. I also noticed the file names are different. i.e. tea1.txt. on the reload instructions, I havemine as poplrgr.te1? I can rename them i suppose just to be sure. Also, all other information states to set 5013 to the same as 5011 (11000111 in this case), but there is no reference to that here. Thanks again Robert

There is a header at the top of the file which tells the system where to direct the file contents ,e.g. %TEA1 Any PC package that can squirt the file out of a serial port will work. A 25 pin crossover cable will do just fine. There is a 25 pin connector on the front of the control but to make sure it can be better to plug in directly to the back of the controller. Make sure you have pressed the DATA IN Start button on the control. The control will now be waiting for data. If anything is sent that is incorrect you will get an error on the control. If there is no response then you are not sending data.

Yeah, i am starting to get a little response from the nc. im using nclite and dnc precisionto send using front port. and trying various boud rates. i am still not getting a good load. when i send it goes for a kb of data or so then stops sending-until i push stop and restart on the nc-then it appears to finish, but i am not seeing anything on the nc (destination). It was still reading in metric- until i edited the nc and plc comm data by hand and now imgetting the proper axis and increments, but i have no user alarms or functions. i.e. "table handwheel engaged" etcand there is still no axis movement from jogor mdi and no alarms to tell me why? Are these alarms in the pca pcp files? rao's?.When i move any axis by hand it simply gives me a "clamping check" error.I dont guess these files can be manually loaded???

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	HI, The data you cannot load by hand is the PLC program, the plc message text and also if programmed the ASM. Even without the message text being loaded you should get an error number. To get going you can print out the message text file and just reference the number displayed to the text on the printout. If your pc program is more tolerant to data format it can be useful to output from the control first to prove the link. Then you have the settings for inputting data. Note that the plc message text has to be input with the control in Initial startup mode. Also the text memory has to have been formatted just prior to loading the message file. My gut feeling is that you have lost the plc program as well so there will be no movement or plc error messages until it is reloaded.

funxman Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	I got it going again. Seems i had both the wrong data files and bad communication software. Managed to find one that would and siemens digged me up a couple of old files in the dusty archives. thanks so much everyone.
