Redundancy - V6.0 SP4

amateur Posts: 145 Rating: (3)	Goodmorning, We want to set up a redundant system. In the SIMATIC WinCC Manual, is being referred that the OS must be only Windows 2000 server or 2003 server. However, after searching the Forum, it has been referred in a couple of threads that Windows XP can also be used. So, the question is the following: Is Redundancy compatible with Windows XP? And if yes, are there any restrictions or anything that we should be aware of? Any insights, ideas or opinions are fully appreaciated, so as to clear this topic Thanks in advance for your time

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	Hi, Servers must have a "server"-type operating system (Windows 2000 server, Windows 2003 server), while clients should have either Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional. In the downloaded compatibility list, it is being referred that Windows XP is not compatible for a WinCC Server. However, in a previous customer project we had the following configuration in the WinCC Server: WinCC V6.0 SP4, Multi-User Project, Web Navigator Server and the OS was Windows XP SP2. We never had any problem. Does this mean that the Compatibility List has errors? Or, what else could have happened? Thanks in advance

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	HI, The compatibility list shows you with which versions it's tested and been found compatible. It does NOT tell you that it won't work on different OS's. You can run it on XP, but you may experience side-effects (that are not supported). It's your own responsibility to use a different combination of software releases and OS. with regards, Ikkezelf

Windows Xp is not designed to be be a server station (and no so stable like W2K or W2K3). Depends how many station you want wiring to "Xp server", how many access and service you are going to develop and a lot of more... So...no answer for that, you just has to know configuration has not been released. And no support will be provide (if never you need). Regards

Do you configuration project is same as Windows server? I try to test two machine Multi-user OS Windows XP, WinCC V6.0 SP4, but in one of this apper the message "No connection to server data". I dont have client. Is posibble to make redundancy onlywith sinlge stations configuration? I found some setting for this, but Is there aditional setting ?
