Redundant Connection with Single CPU and 2 CP Card

anirban Posts: 38 Rating: (3)	Hi All This is Anirban here. I am now working in PCS7 v7.0 in Windows XP SP2 platform. We havea multi-project in the system. There we have a station where we have a single 400 series CPU and 2no. CP443 card for LAN communication. Both the CP cards are in same LAN channel. Now when I am creating the NETPRO connection for the CPU with WinCC v 6.2, it is obvious that only S7 Connection is possible for that. I've created that. Now my question is, if i want to have a redundant connection between the 2 CP card from WinCC server then what i have to do? Is there any technical documents regarding the problem? Please help me. Or you have S7-400H system with a CP443-1 on each of the redundant CPU racks? In the later case the connection with the CP1613 on the server will be S7-Fault Tolerant Connection. Check the PCS7 - Function Manual Fault Tolerant Process Control Sys in the PCS7 documentation. Regards

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (278)	Dear anirban, I cannot understand why you have 2 CP443-1 cards in a single rack communicating to 1 OS? This way, what kind of redundancy do you hope to achieve? You can create an S7 Connection for each CP. And you can generate the WinCC tags only over one connection at a time and not both. This means there is real communication over one bus. If you want to switch to the other bus you need to manually change the tag connection properties. Regards, Phantom

anirban Posts: 38 Rating: (3)	Just wanted to clarify. We have three PCS7 H-systems, One PCS7 AS416-3 with Two CP443-1 cards and Two pairs of redundant servers. What we want to achieve is to have a redundant communication path for the non-redundant CPU (AS416-3) with the OS servers with autmatic switching incase of failure one ethernet card. Is it possbile to achieve redundancy by writng a script in WinCC , so that incase one connection fails, it will switchover to the other connection. Please note that we are using "Named_connection" as communication driver. The connections are defined in the Netpro of the project.
