Redundant HRP with standby link - SCALANCE X308-2M

Dear Sirs, I need to connect several automation panels in a redundant fiber optic ring topology. I have found the following application manual, provided by siemens: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109739600 My plan is to integrate 2 SCALANCE X308-2M with fiber optic modules (2x MM991-2 (BFOC) in each automation cabinet. One SCALANCE X308-2M will be a part of the master ring and one for the standby link. For the rings I will use one MM991-2 (BFOC) - I attached a picture. In the documentation the 2 rings are connected in 2 places. My question is: Can I connect both rings in each automation panel or like in the application manual, in just 2 places ? Also, for the rings I will use fiber optic. Is a good idea that between rings the connection should be done on fiber optic or is not a real advantage. Thank you! |
