Redundant profibus communication over DP coupler

Does anyone have solution to this problem?

We have same request from customer, we need to have redundant profibus communication over DP coupler. Our system is S7-400H redundant, so more or less, its the same problem. How to communicate with two redundant systems over DP coupler.

Do you mean you have 2 redundant S7-400H systems that you want to connect (over Profibus-DP) through DP/DP couplers?

The following link provides 2 possible solutions:

- a  Y-Link on each S7-400H system (so 2 Y-Links) and a single DP/DP coupler between them;

- a separate DP/DP coupler on each Profibus-DP bus (so total, 2 DP/DP couplers);

Both solutions should work, you need to determine costs and topologies available with your existing networks to decide which one you would choose.

Thanks for fast reply! 

Basically we have one redundant system (two 400H stations in redundancy) and this system has to be connected with DCS system from client with redundant DP/DP communication.

So you propose that it is possible to put on each profibus network (on each 400H) one DP coupler? 

Since this is first project with redundancy for me, how the system select over which addresses to collect data on DP/DP, since in OB1 PI they cannot be same on both DP/DP couplers?

I would suggest that each DP/DP coupler be configured separately, especially if you intend to reserve separate memory areas in your DCS for the data coming from each of the redundant CPUs in the S7-400H.

I suggest you look at the DP/DP coupler manual (to learn how the coupler is configured between 2 S7 CPUs, and adapt the installation to connect to your own DCS. I ahve linked a discussion from an ABB forum showing a solution to use a DP/DP coupler between a S7 and a ABB DCS, which could serve as a guide for your project.
